Punctuation, Grammar
and
Spelling!
Hey Guys!
So I was reading a couple of stories and Blog Posts today which made me realize how much spelling, grammar and punctuation errors really annoy me! So what better thing to do than carry on my 'Things That Annoy Me' series and rage about them on here? I also just want say: I am using examples from Bubbles' book and blog because there's quite a few mistakes in there but in no way am I trying to offend her. Also I'm not saying my writing is perfect but, I think I don't have as many mistakes as other pieces of writing. Soo.. let's get started!
I'm starting of with..Hmm, I'll call it the 'Lost Comma'. This is where people miss out the most obvious commas which then leads the sentence to make no actual sense at all! It usually happens at the end of a sentence.. Example:
"What! Who?" I ask slightly concerned okay alot concerned.
Oh my God. Okay we';; start off with "I ask.." there should be a comma there because in real life you would pause there and that's one of the properties of a comma- it adds a pause. I realize you're typing the story and you're all 'In The Game' but bro, at least say it out loud to make sure your sentence makes sense! Do you not read it back and spot it? It's quite obvious! Another one is "..concerned okay.." and the second comma goes after "okay" because you're pointing out HOW concerned you actually are! And really, I'm not trying to be mean to my best friend in any way, shape or form, but please, please use the needed punctuation where it's needed because that is one of the reasons you've stayed in the same English set for two years! Also, using the same example, I just want to point out the "What!". And yes, I know perfectly well what your intention was, but hey! in your context, 'what' is a DAMN QUESTION! So.. A question, has a question mark at the frickin' end of it! This in my opinion is the correct version:
"What?! Who?" I ask, slightly concerned.. okay, alot concerned!"
I mean, do you not cringe if a sentence is not correct? I surely do!
The next one.. I don't really know what category it goes into, but here it is: when people do not use a new line for a new speech! Listen, we've been taught that in middle school!
Another thing to do with text is this:
Friend- "You use long words..I should use long words, maybe I'll sound smarter.."
Well, sorry to inform you about this, but using long words won't make you sound smarter when your texts are:
Text from a friend: "hey r u in school"
How annoying?! Number one, it's a question- there should be a question mark at the end! Use your spelling and punctuation- they're free and don't make you sound like a school drop-out!
Are you ever reading something and then you stumble across this sort of thing:
Story: "..I brush my teeth until they look better then before.."
It's THAN! I mean, do you not annoy yourself? The meaning of 'Than' - Used to draw a comparison between two or more items. The usage of 'Than' - It's a conjunction which simply means it brings two ideas together, for a higher level writing. Examples of the usage of 'Than' - I ate more than he did. His smile was different than she remembered. The meaning of 'Then' - Used in relation to time and the order in which events occur. The usage of 'Than' - an adverb, adjective, or a noun. Examples of 'Then' - She ended the call, then packed her bags. "Until then," she said.

The last thing I'm going to mention is the use of 'OF'
Story: "He must of been born like it.."
No! He MUST HAVE.. `I can't really explain how much this annoys me! so I'm going to leave it here!
Sorry this was short, but if I talked about all the text errors that annoy me I'd be typing for hours! Again, I don't mean to offend anyone- take it easy and laugh along!
